OUR POLICY STANCES

We firmly believe in advancing health equity, promoting patient-centered care, and supporting the unique needs of those with chronic, complex, and rare conditions. Our stances are not just statements but guiding principles that shape our actions and interactions with policymakers, stakeholders, and the communities we serve. We oppose any legislation, movements, or rules that undermine these values, recognizing the critical need for systemic changes to ensure that every individual has access to the care, support, and resources they deserve. HEALTHCARE ACCESS

We are for healthcare access: Our organization advocates for policies and initiatives that ensure equitable access to affordable, quality healthcare for all individuals, regardless of their socio-economic status, geographical location, or health condition. We support measures to expand healthcare coverage, reduce out-of-pocket costs, and address disparities in access to care.
• We are against legislation, movements, rules, etc. that hinder healthcare access: Our organization opposes any policies or initiatives that limit access to affordable and quality healthcare services, including barriers to insurance coverage, discriminatory practices, and restrictions on essential health benefits.

PATIENT RIGHTS

PATIENT-CENTERED CARE

• We are for Patient-Centered Care: Our organization believes in the importance of patient-centered care, which prioritizes the individual needs, preferences, and goals of patients in healthcare decision-making. We are for the Affordable Care Act: Our organization strongly supports the Affordable Care Act as a vital framework that expands healthcare access to millions of Americans, particularly those with chronic, complex, and rare diseases. The ACA’s provisions, including coverage for pre-existing conditions, essential health benefits, and Medicaid expansion, are crucial for ensuring comprehensive and equitable healthcare for all. We advocate for enhancing the ACA to further improve affordability, accessibility, and quality of care.
• We Are Against Legislation, Movements, Rules, Etc., That Undermine The Affordable Care Act: We oppose any efforts to repeal, weaken, or dismantle the Affordable Care Act. Such actions would jeopardize the healthcare coverage of millions, particularly those with pre-existing conditions and complex health needs. We are against policies that seek to reduce essential health benefits, rollback Medicaid expansion, or promote inadequate health plans that fail to provide comprehensive coverage.

RESEARCH ADVANCEMENTS

We are against Policies and Practices that Prioritize Profit Over People: We oppose any policies or practices that put financial interests above patient care. This includes opposing the deregulation of healthcare markets that lead to higher costs for patients, resisting cuts to essential health services for the sake of profit margins, and rejecting policies that allow for-profit entities to undermine the quality of care. We stand against any form of exploitation or profiteering at the expense of patient health and safety.
